The University of Babylon is one of the largest universities in Iraq. It is situated on the banks of the Euphrates River in the province of Babil in central Iraq. The institution is made up of 21 colleges spread across three main locations in Hilla. The central university campus is in the medical colleges complex in the center of Hilla -Al-Iskan.

Professor Dr. Qahtan Hadi Al-Jubouri, the President of the University of Babylon, announced the university's ranking in the global classification by the British Times Higher Education (THE) agency. The university maintained its second position among 56 Iraqi universities, with the University of Basra surpassing other Iraqi competitors. It's worth mentioning that 1050 international universities from 85 countries participated in this classification, which is based on 169 indicators aligned with 17 sustainable development goals outlined in the United Nations 2030 Agenda. The criteria are locally known as the United Nations Development Programmer.
